Chateau La Rose Perriere L:ussac St Emilion 2011
90% Merlot & 10% Cabernet Franc go to make this smooth. silky Lussac St Emilion which has a full, rounded palate with ripe black fruits on the palate. Soft tannins and a pleasantky oaky finish add to the satisfying mouth-feel. The wine is an ideal match for richer winter dishes and savoury cheeses.
Gold Medal at the Brussels wine competition (Concours Mondial de Bruxelles) 2013.
Chateau La Rose Perriere is a small (4.5 hectares) estate in Lussac next to St Emilion. The soil is clay-limestone with rocky outcrops. The average age of the vines ranges from 30 years old to 60 years old and yields are kept low (30 hectolitre per hectare). Most of the work in the vineyard is done by hand and harvesting is still by hand with prior selection of the grapes followed by fermentation in large barrels before maturation in French oak barriques. For all these reasons and a favourable end of summer in 2011, the wine is full and satisfying (14.5%) with soft tannins and a smooth finish. .
