Ch. Mont Thabor Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2014
Ch Mont Thabor shows classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape aromas, it has an intense nose of ripe plums with notes of floral herbs, cherries and earthy white pepper. On the palate the wine shows marvellous texture with a good soft mouth feel but with plenty of grip behind, a nice balance of minerals, ripe fruit and vanilla. This wine is really deep and intense with tremendous complexity, ripe fleshy tannins, excellent structure, dense but well balanced fruit and a long, fine finish.

Château Mont Thabor, a 17 th century building, belonged to the Marquis de Vaucroze. Don Pernety, the fonder of the Visionaries’ secte of Avignon, who was in search of the philosopher’s stone, stayed there. After a tumultuous past, the Château became a post house for carriages on road between Paris and Marseille. In 1881, the Swiss family STEHELIN bought the estate to develop the vineyard.
The grapes are not destemmed, fermentation takes up to 3 weeks and the wines are then aged in three year old casks for up to 15 months depending on the vintage. The wines are not filtered prior to bottling.
The moustachioed Daniel Stehelin is a master of Châteauneuf, and with consistent 90 Parker points and high praise from Jancis Robinson, he is ensured a growing reputation.
