Issue (Sensum), Ribeiro 2011

Issue mainly consists of Treixadura (40%) and side (35%) plus a small percentage of Silveiriña, Albariño, Godello and white Caíño. It is a white wine of fleshy body cool while concentrated, with a pronounced acidity that makes it long and vibrant aromas of citrus, white fruit, broom, white flowers and notes of smoke and flint.

Bernardo Estevez, Villar Remoiño cultivates vineyards in the two valleys of San Vicente and San Amaro de Arnoia. The 2.4 hectares belong to his mother. Bernado works using nature, protecting the soil characteristics, and follows the biodynamic calendar, as well as the cultivating philosophy of Masanobu Fukuoka. Fukoaka was a Japanese philosopher and natural farmer, who promoted the ‘do nothing’ form of farming. He is the inspiration behind the natural food movement.

The old vines that are planted in these vineyards are the almost forgotten native varieties of Side, Silveiriña and Verdello. Some of the vines are as old as 75 years. In the cellar Sebio Xose Lois helps produce this white Ribeiro. The juice is fermented with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels of 500 Litres at a low temperature.
