Leitz Rudesheimer Berg Roseneck Riesling Spatlese 2011
In the opulent bouquet of the Roseneck mature, juicy pineapples mingle with creamy yellow mango, peach, the scent of roses, ample lemon and a spicy touch of green pepper. Thanks to the quality of its succulent-sweet fruity acidity the Riesling is very light on the palate, lemon-like touches of slate emerge, which underscore the glass clear fruity sweetness of this classic fine late vintage. This Riesling goes well with coconut milk chicken curry with lychee, chili, lime juice and lemon grass, but equally well with baked apple and custard, tarte tatin with pears or apples, and crème brûlée.

The Rheingau Region is the only point where the Rhine river flows from east to West as it encounters the Taunus mountains. For 30km it flows due west, exposing a vast south facing slope, which gets progressively steeper as it moves west. It is only the last 6km, from Rudesheim onwards, where Johannes plies his viticultural skills.
One speciality and definitively the strength of Leitz winery is the strict collection of first growth Riesling vineyards combined with low yields and highest standard vineyard management.
