Liberty School Syrah 2012

Exudes classic aromas of blueberries and cherries along with hints of eucalyptus and violets. Zesty acidity gives way to a round mouthfeel of cranberries and plum on the mid-palate along with hints of pepper and hints. Elements of minerality and velvety smooth tannins lead to a long finish.

Upon harvest, the grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and placed in stainless steel tanks to cold soak. This allowed extra time for the juice to interact with the grape skins prior to fermentation and hence greater extraction of tannins.

The wine is pumped over twice daily during fermentation. The wine was aged for 12 months in primarily neutral French oak barrels. The initial blend was assembled after the first racking. The final blend rested in stainless steel tank for three months prior to bottling.

HOPE FAMILY WINES

The Hope family have been farming in the Paso Robles for more than 30 years. When they arrived they planted apple orchards and grapes. Little did they know that this region would become one of the foremost viticultural regions of the Central Coast. They now have some 40ha of their own (where the Austin Hope wines are sourced) and some 450ha under long term contracts and supervised by their own viticulturists.

Austin hope, is the third generation of farmers, and the first generation of winemakers! He has a passion for Rhone varietals. The Liberty School wines offer some of the best value for money Californian wines. The grapes are sourced from over 50 growers. Treana is the flagship range and the red is a cult Californian wine - we hope that will happen in the UK!
