Based to the north of Evora and to the west of Estremoz, this is an estate comprising some 65ha with a production of just less than 1 million bottles per annum. Despite the wonderful historical buildings that are on the estate the first vintage was only just over 12 years ago. However it is a dynamic force in the region and with the new addition to the team of Pedro Pereira Gonçalves, Director General of Viticulture and Oenology, who has made wines not only in Portugal but in New Zealand and Chile as well.
Having taking the Agronomy Engineering Graduation with specialization in Enology and Viticulture, Pedro was enticed by his interest in winemaking when he went to Australia to work in Hardys Wine Company. After a further some years spent working in Portugal as Chief Winemaker and Consultant, he returned to work in New Zealand and the next year in Chile in Concha y Toro. At Monte da Ravasqueira in Alentejo, Portugal he found again a challenge to make top wines of special sites. He is responsible for the development of this magnificent Brand who tries to combine the best of New World with the old world. He has a constant passion to grow top quality fruit has produced wines displaying the ripe, concentrated and fruity elegancy of New world with complexity of Classic wine styles. This has resulted in Monte da Ravasqueira receiving numerous awards both locally and internationally.
