Philip Shaw The Wirewalker Pinot Noir 2016
Aromas of strawberries, red cherries, soft spice, touches of earthy savouriness and cedar float out of the glass to tempt the senses. Meanwhile, the palate is light to medium-bodied, with a nice spicy entry, gentle tannins, and a decent cherry and savoury-edged finish. Excellent with cured meats, or chicken liver pate.

Philip Shaw has been making wine in Australia for more than four decades and he approaches each aspect of wine making with a healthy mix of innovation and unrelenting quality. The Orange wine region is uniquely classified by both geographical and altitudinal boundaries. Located approximately 260km west of Sydney on the slopes of the Great Dividing Ranges, the Orange Geographical Indication begins at 1,968 ft with vineyards planted as high as 3,608 ft. Due to the high elevation, the climate of the Orange wine region is one of the coolest in Australia. Orange is also noted for intense sunlight, which, coupled with the cool growing season, result in wines of bright fruit and distinct elegance.
