Fonte da Serrana tinto 2016
Deep purple but not opaque in colour, the aromas are of red fruits and hints of spiciness, but it's more like a Rioja Joven than anything (Tempranillo). The palate is elegant and easy to appreciate, it's not an overly complex wine but it has a pleaing harmoniousness and is neither bitter nor tannic. Best enjoyed young and could even be chilled to 14c in warmer weather.

Monte da Ravasqueira is a quality wine producer in the Alentejo region of SE Portugal, towards the border with Spain. This is the warmest and driest area of Portugal so wines are usually fuller and less tannic than those prpduced in the North of Portugal, for instance in the Douro Valley. Fonte da Serrana is classes as a Vinho Regional Alentejano and is made from a blend of 60% Aragonez (Tempranillo) , 30% Trincadeira and 10% Syrah. This is the introductory wine to their range and makes a good all-purpose red which would suit a wide variety of dishes.
