Pouilly-Fuissé Auvigue Vieilles Vignes 2014
The vineyards for this award-winning wine come from the best plots in the family estate. All the vines are at least 50 years old. It is elegant but also powerful and full-bodied. The palate is finely structured and well balanced with vanilla and brioche flavours followed by a lingering truffle touch. This wine will continue to mature for up to six years. Very nice as an aperitif, or drink with smoked or grilled fish, poultry and other white meats.

At the southern end of the Maconnais lie the family vineyards of the Auvigue family, overlooked by the towering and conspicuos Rock of Solutre. The well-drained clay-limestone soils are especiaklky suited to the cultivation of white grapes, so Chardonnay predominates. The grapes which produce this wine come from vines at least 50 years old (vieilles vignes) which grow in the best, south-facing parcels of the family holdings. Viticulture is traditional with minimal use of chemicals in the vineyard and the family still practice hand-harvesting.
