Method of Production The water for Aberlour is taken from St Dronstan's well which imparts a spiciness to the whiskey. The Barley is ground, mixed with hot water and fermented to produce a wash which is then distilled twice in pot stills, producing spirit. This is then put in old Sherry butts and bourboon casks, and aged for 10 years,
