Our Opinion Legend has it that Bonnie Prince Charlie, escaping from the Isle of Skye, gave the recipe of his favourite elixir to Captain John Mackinnon. It remained secret for a century, until it began to be produced at the Broadford Hotel bu James Ross. It was registered as Drambuie in 1893. It is a perfect winter warmer.
Tasting Notes Honeyed, rich sweetness masks any bite from the whisky, leaving it smooth and warming with heathery complexity. Drambuie is a smooth liqueur with flavours of heather honey, spice and herbs. Long and warming to finish.
Wine Maker
Method of Production Drambuie is a blend of 15 year old single malts, with the addition of heather honey. The recipe remains a closely guarded secret.
