Our Opinion Miles from Nowhere is about a passion for winemaking. The name alludes to a desire to forget about always rushing forward seeking to do too much and instead to 'turn the GPS off for a second' and get back to basics with something as simple as a great wine on the porch with a friend. The greatest discoveries are often made by getting off the beaten track and being happy to just get 'lost' for a while. We urge you to get lost with this wine.

Tasting Notes Pale straw in colour, with a nose of tropical fruits, guava and passionfruit. On the palate fresh cut grass and gooseberries are to the fore, but the wine finishes with a crisp minerality. Light bodied and clean.

Method of Production Fruit for this wine was sourced from two sites - the Miaup Road Vineyard in Willyabrup and Jindong sub-regions of Margaret River in Western Australia's pristine South West. The soil consists of predominantly gravelly loam which provide ideal growing conditions for grape vines. A strict pruning regime is employed to ensure that crop levels remain at 7 - 10 tonnes per hectare and to provide the desired level of fruit exposure. The Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc for this wine was harvested in the cool of the night using mechanical harvesters. Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc were processed individually. The grapes were crushed and lightly pressed under inert conditions as to avoid any extraction of harsh phenolics, and oxidation. Following settling, the wines were racked, warmed and inoculated for fer mention in stainless steel vessels. A combination of yeasts were used to enhance the varietal characters and to produce fresh, fruity, clean wines. Fermentation was held at a cool temperature of around 14C and lasted on average for 12 days. Once settled the wines were racked off gross lees and the individual components assessed and blended. The blend was given a light fining before being filtered and prepared for bottling.
