This wine comes from a very interesting Portuguese winery which makes great value and exciting wines.
Our Opinion Established in 1723, Quinta da Alorna is one of the oldest wineries in Portugal. The quest for improving on their already great wines is never ending.
Tasting Notes Ruby red in colour with aromas of ripe red fruit and chocolate and toast notes. The mouth is round and full with smooth tannins, and a nice long finish.
Wine Maker Quinta da Alorna
Method of Production The various grape varieties that make up this blend were destemmed and crushed, and a 24 hour pre-fermentative cold maceration was followed by fermentation at about 26ºC, in stainless steel tanks. Then the run off wine was separated from the pressed wine, and the various grape juices were blended together. Following malolactic fermentation the wine was placed, for four months, in french oak barriques (225L). Finally the wine was finned and filtered before bottling.
