Red wine

ExCellar boasts  a wide range of red wines, and in many different styles.  There are many factors which play a part in the style of a wine.  They are:  Choice of grape variety, climate, soil, place and vinification method.  Including wild varieties, those used for raisins and table grapes, it is said that there are some 8,000 grape varieties in the world. The main red grapes are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, which is also  known as Shiraz, Gamay, Grenache, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, Tempranillo and Sangiovese. There are many others, and you will find that some red wine is a blend of several grape varieties, whilst others are the product of one grape only, such as red Burgundy, which is made from Pinot Noir.
