The Bon Cap Estate is the largest family owned Organic estate in South Africa. The 7th generation of the Du Preez family are now running the Estate, although the first Estate wines were only produced in 2002; they previously sold their grapes to the local co-operative.
The Pinotage grape is a cross of Cinsault and Pinot Noir - The Ruins Pinotage is one of the few good ones coming from a newer clone.
