Gavi San Pietro 2019 Piemonte £20.99
This is an organic-biodynamic wine (vino biologico) which really live up its billing as a top quality product. Lean, crisp and racy this is Gavi at its best with flavours of lime, hints of citrus and noticeable minerality. The microclimate in Tassarolo is favourable to the Cortese grape which ripens well in the south facing amphitheatre of surrounding hills so the wine is not too acidic. Great with first courses, fish and as an aperitif with antipasti.

A wine of great refinement and elegance, generous blackberry fruits and a smooth texture from wood ageing give this wine its richness and open character. The classic claret from the “left bank” Chateau Amour has, rightly, been recently upgraded to the level of Cru Bourgeois. Lovely berry fruit slight oak tones. On the palate there is a gentle elegance; firm fruit with nicely balanced soft dryness.
