The Domaine des Rois Mages is situated at Rully in the Cote Chalonnaise and is owned by Anne-Sophie Debavalaere and her son Felix, who joined the family in 2009 after travelling the world making wine. The family now own 8 different climates = vineyards in the Cote Chalonnaise and the Cote de Beaune.  Les Cailloux is a parcel of land situated at 300 metres above sea level on a stony (hence ‘Cailloux’ = pebbles) clay-limestone plateau in the Cote Chalonnaise near Rully. The nature and aspect of this plateau means that it is planted with Pinot Noir vines as well as some Chardonnay. .

An appealing purple colour in the glass is accompanied by luscious aromas of red fruits e.g. redcurrants and cherries, together with hints of earthiness. On the palate this wine is complex and smooth, with a velvety finish. It is a great example of the Pinot Noir grape grown in the Cote Chalonnaise, made by a quality domaine.

The family philosophy is to respect the traditions of the region and to work the soil in a sustainable way. As far as winemaking is concerned their aim is to marry the fruit with a delicate use of oak ageing (12 months in oak cask) followed by another 6 months settling in tank before bottling.
