Chateau St Jacques d’Albas Minervois

Pre summer 2018 I received a phone call from an Australian friend whom had not been in touch for a few years. He was coming to England….could we meet for lunch…(great)...tomorrow!

Sam Vigara is a grape grower and very good wine maker in the Adelaide Hills. He is also a great communicator and entrepreneur….and so amongst  all the business suggestions made that lunch he mentioned he had a friend who made good wine in the Languedoc….a very round about way of finding this next winery….so here we have Chateau St Jacques

Situated in the Minervois, a seductive region in the west of France’s Languedoc, tucked in between the medieval city of Carcassonne, the Black Mountains and the Canal du Midi, the family-owned Château St Jacques d’Albas benefits from a wealth of natural advantages to produce impressive wines.

Over 60 hectares of forest and garrigue, teaming with wildlife, and an 11th century chapel, protect the 26 hectares of vines. Our philosophy from the beginning has been to limit yields and take an organic approach to managing the soil and the vines.
