Marked by a very beautiful black fruit aroma, licorice and mineral notes. The mouth is voluptuous and very aromatic with a hint of salinity. A nice balance and lots of freshness. The finish combines the power of tannins with the elegance. The wine is very long. This is a very great vintage with ripe tannins, richness and power. The style is very representative of the appellation and in particular because of its tannic quality.

"A rich and powerful fine wine from Pauillac that can be enjoyed young but can also reveal a nice potential for age".

The Liberal family has owned Château Haut-Bages Libéral since the beginning of the 18th century. Over time, these fine connoisseurs have brought together the best terroirs of Pauillac. Today, this Classified Growth is the property of the Villars family who acquired it in 1983. The family has invested in new winemaking equipment and has converted the cultivation of the vineyard to sustainable viticulture.

Located in the south of the village of Pauillac, the richest in Classified Growths of the Médoc, the vineyard extends over 27 hectares, part of which overlooks the Gironde and borders the famous Château Latour, the other part being on the plateau of Bages, close to the Pichon-Longueville and Lynch-bages Crus Classés.

The 30 hectare vineyard of Chateau Haut Bages Liberal is planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. This shows an increase in Cabernet Sauvignon over the years. The average age of the vines are close to 35 years of age.

Chateau Haut Bages Liberal was certified as organic in 2019. The vineyards are also in the process of being certified as biodynamic in 2019.
