Finlaggan Old Reserve is most definitely of the Islay style (strong peat smoke smell and flavor), so don't knock it for being that; you either like Islay whiskies or you don't. To my "unsophisticated" tastes, this is just as good as Laphroaig or Lagavulin but at less than half the price.
