The Auvigue family estates are situated near the village of Solutre-Pouilly at the southern end of the Maconnais. The prominent Roc de Solutre is a local landmark overlooking many of the vineyards which lie of south-facing slopes around it. The soil is predominantly clay-limestone which suits the Chardonnay  variety on the stonier, better-draining soils. The Auvigue family's philosophy is one of minimum intervention in the vineyard with use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides kept to a minimum. Typical white Burgundy from the better areas of the Maconnais. Crisp & racy on first impression with characteristic ripe green apple and melon flavours from the Chardonnay grapes. , together with hints of citrus. The mid-palate is fuller than most normal Macon Villages and the evidence of the partial oak-ageing comes through on the finish, which is smooth and satisfying.
