Mas de Cadenet is situated near Trets in the Bouche du Rhone department close to the city of Aix-en-Provence, not far from the famous Mont St Victoire. Winemaking here is organic ''vin biologique' and the vineyards benefit from a superb climate for winemaking: warm spring, hot summer, dry harvest season,  some autumn rain followed by a surprisingly (to some people)  cold winter under the influence of the Mistral wind. Grapes grown on the estate include Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvedre although the last named is not used for the rose, just the red. The rose is made in a youthful, delicate style whereas the red has more weight and complexity.

Pale pink in colour with orange tints, the aroma is delicate with redcurrants and cherries on the nose. The palate is delicate too, not overly fruity (redcurrants) with some balancing acidity. In its mouthfeel it's medium-bodied (12.5%) with a harmonious finish. More of an elegant accompaniment to a first course e.g. charcuterie or a delicate fish dish e.g. salmon or the local red mullet  than a blockbuster, it will please those who like this classy style of rose rather than the meatier roses produced in nearby Bandol or those in Tavel. Open a lightly chilled bottle in the garden and dream of 'A Year n Provence' !
