The local red grape Raboso del Veneto can make serious food-friendly wines when made in a normal fashion, but this lightly fizzy (frizzante) version is different in that it’s more of a wine for fun occasions where a lightly sparkling red fits the bill e.g. summer barbecues or pizzas It’s also ideal with salami, mortadella etc plus baked pasta dishes e.g. cannelloni. Somewhat surprising to us, there is quite a taste for lightly fizzy red in NE Italy e.g. Lambrusco di Sorbara (the original wine produced from the Lambrusco grape in Emilia-Romagna.)
